Los Angeles County officials searched the Southern California property of The Exorcist star Linda Blair on Friday, July 31, under an inspection warrant tied to a reported kennel operation, county agencies said.
The Los Angeles County Department of Animal Care and Control and the Department of Regional Planning said the goal was to inspect buildings and structures at a site “reported to have more than 100 dogs” and to verify compliance with county codes. NBC News reported that Blair has not been accused of committing any crimes. The department said kennel permits for the facility expired in 2023 and that attempts to reach the owner had gone unanswered.
Search interest for linda blair home raided rose on 4 Aug 2026, days after the July 31 Los Angeles County kennel inspection, sitting on the same Google Trends pull as other entertainment spikes without a matching code-compliance story.
What officials said
In a statement shared with People and other outlets, DACC said investigators were evaluating “animal care, safety conditions, and overall welfare of the dogs housed on the property.” The department called the matter an active investigation and declined to say how many animals were found. TMZ, which first reported the visit, said Blair was present and cooperative and that no dogs were removed.
County facility-licensing pages describe how DACC’s inspectors work with Regional Planning and Building and Safety on kennel and animal-business permits, including letter-grade inspections of licensed sites. A May 2024 DACC facility-grades file listed the Linda Blair World Heart Foundation in Acton with a July 2, 2023 inspection grade of A; the foundation did not appear on a September 2025 active grades list published by the department.
Blair’s account
Blair addressed supporters on Instagram the same day. In a video quoted by Deadline and Fox News, she said she and the animals were fine and framed the visit as paperwork and diagrams rather than animal mistreatment. She also said she has been looking to move the rescue so it can be “more educational and help more animals.” Blair founded the Linda Blair WorldHeart Foundation in 2003 to rehabilitate and place dogs for adoption.
