Taylor Sheridan’s espionage drama Lioness returned to Paramount+ on Sunday, Aug. 2, 2026, with Season 3 Episode 1, “The Spider and the Fly,” kicking off an eight-episode weekly run through a Sept. 20 finale.
Search interest for lioness rose on 6 Aug 2026 four days after Paramount+ launched Season 3, sitting beside Ted Lasso and Wicker movie queries on the same Google Trends pull.

Paramount+’s June press materials framed Season 3 as the Lioness team’s “most personal assignment yet,” with Joe McNamara (Zoe Saldaña) balancing duty and home as “hidden networks, foreign operatives, and personal betrayals collide.” Nicole Kidman returns as Kaitlyn Meade, with Morgan Freeman and Michael Kelly also back. Paramount+’s post-premiere guide lists the opener as live and notes new episodes on Sundays.
Deadline’s June 5 report corroborated the Aug. 2 premiere date and the season logline. Esquire later published the weekly slate: Episode 2, “No Sorrow Like the Survivor,” on Aug. 9, then weekly drops through Episode 8 on Sept. 20. Trailers and early coverage place part of the season’s action in Ukraine before the threat follows Joe home.
Early reception
ComingSoon’s Aug. 3 roundup put Season 3 at about 82% “Fresh” on Rotten Tomatoes from early critic notices, below Season 2’s 90% but well above Season 1’s 54%. ScreenRant and FandomWire reviews cited in that roundup praised higher stakes and a leaner pace; Collider called the season “messy and chaotic” while still landing positive.
CBR’s Katie Doll, reviewing the first three episodes, argued the show has found a better balance of action and drama via a split timeline, but flagged difficult torture imagery, Cruz Manuelos pushed to the background, and a Russia-Ukraine plot that “will surely not sit agreeably with a lot of viewers.”
